  • Gentlemen!
I am a musical hostorian/collector. I was just recently researching “Oh Death!” when I came upon your 2008 posting. It is possibly the most unique variation of the tune I’ve come across. May I add that I found it to be a very professional presentation.
Is it possible that you have recorded it? Can it be purchased for my collection?

  • luke or Kyle…or Luke and Kyle:)where have yall gone?I never see any new posts…..seen the trilogy….wanted to know how yall weathered Comet Elinin!

  • Comet who? :-) We put the Blogcast on ice while we focus more on other projects in our lives, like the ToneWay Project and Bachido and such. We will be back at some point with a China Blogcast (we have even more footage from China then we do from Japan!), and I will be putting out a video of my experiences teaching at a music camp in Alaska (a heartwarming story). Other than that, we’re playing it by ear. Oh, and there will be a collector’s DVD at some point… :-P

Speaking of collectors… Paul, thanks for the kind words. It’s only on YouTube, though. There are actually two other live recordings on our channel of that song; one at the Abbey and one at GOF. Search our abbottfamily channel and you’ll find ‘em. You’re welcome to extract the audio from the video for your collection if you like.

  • Thanks for the reply Luke.I do hope you guys do some more Blogcasts.I really enjoyed those and I am looking forward to trying those Cinn a Bons this Christmas also.I have recorded the recipe yall did.You guys became like pals that I looked forward to spending time with every week so I’ll miss you guys.BTW Comet Elinin is a comet that will be closest to earth on the 16th of this month and is suspected of all sorts of calamity. Its supposedly tied in to the Hopi Indian legends and the Mayans stories of a blue followed by a red star in the heavens that swing thru our galaxy ever 26,000 years or so and causes great changes in our planet.Elinin is the blue(caused by its chemical makeup)and the red star is called Nibiru. This is supposedly why the Mayan calendar ends in 2012 as thats the time period thats its due.I dont know why Im telling you all this…..I dont buy it but it sure is a hot topic.Well you take care my friend and I’ll see you around like a donut!:)

  • Ok,thats it!!

it has been far to long, and as such i hereby demand you entertain us!!
you can’t just invite us, your faithful fans, into your life to entertain, teach, and even share parts of your lives with us.to get us hooked on pop’s wise words or kyle’s “I’ll attack this world with humor” bravado or your mothers voice of reasoning, only to go away!!!

ok ok..so i might have over reacted a little.
but c’mon..i miss my 7 to 10 min episodes.
i miss the music i miss seeing all you individuals coming together as a group.
granted i could look at my own fam,but 1 we are dutch,2 the only tone we can keep is being tone deaf and the only instrument we can play is each others skulls.

now that being said,i know your all busy with other things that demand your time and focus.i can respect that.
but i also know that when aim to shoot 5 min worth..you have 50 min of footage to pick from…why not show us a little “behind the screen” of what’s keeping you so busy.as a sort of…filler.

and on a personal note…what is up with the women..i mean we see you 2 ( kyle and luke) with women every now and then but never something steady..or even a introduction….what gives?

    all jokes aside,
i hope to see more of you soon.
and i hope that reading this message at least got a chuckle.

seasons greetings and best wishes from all they across the ocean from the Netherlands.

  • Oh, Michael! You’re killin’ me. I miss doing the Blogcasts, and I really wish I had the time and energy to make more episodes. But they were about a ten-hour-a-week commitment, and I need those ten hours to catch up with other projects that are terribly delayed. Plus, it got harder and harder to release new episodes to the standards we’d created for ourselves.

I suppose we could think of something to fill the void. I certainly should update this site a little bit, at least. And of course we need to put out the collecter’s edition on DVD with bonus content and director commentary! All in time.

As for women: we’ve been dating off and on for years but we intentionally kept a lot of that stuff off the Blogcast. Kyle’s Masako saga got quite a bit of coverage in Season One, actually… and he’s referenced women in my life too (often under a cryptic code-name or alias), but this is an area where I prefer to keep the mystery going. Besides, it’s awkward when you split up during the lag-time between an episode’s filming and its airing. :-P

    Thanks for the support.

  • Hello Luke and Kyle, i just watched Trading Spouse’s on CMT. And i did enjoy watching your family. You boys remind me so much of my sons, im glad to see you two are doing well and experiencing life.

  • Hi there. I saw the episode of you guys on trading spouses on CMT (I saw it when it first came out) I think you live such a wonderful life. I have never done yoga, meditating,or Tai Chi. (sp?) I wish my family/friends were more like your family…
Were you hippies back in the day? Do you believe in past lives/what are your views on this?
any suggestions on easy to follow cd’s on meditation-for beginners (if u know of any) would be cool.
    take care =)

  • Oh man, I was really looking forward to the China episodes. Whenever you’re not incredibly busy, you should put that together and have an official “final series”. Your family is very enamoring, which is probably why everyone misses the Blogcast and Toneway show.

PS You made me very interested in playing the banjo, and I started a few months ago. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Zac

  • hope you guys are doing well with your music.sure miss the songs fellows and the laughs.

  • Hey you guys!Just wanted to say hello and to be sure all is well in santa cruz!

  • Luke and Kyle you’re both so handsome and talented. #lovestruck ;)

  • Oss! Luke and Kyle.
    That’s awesome!

Remember me? Two Years ago Luke loved my ToneWay post at my music Blog iwannabeafolksinger (http://goo.gl/agaFg). I wished please upload them to Youtube..and here they are!

Now I’m the hostess of @FitForLifeTV TwitterShow: art, excercise and nutrition for development. It started at my personal account @giselediaz. I got ill and due to the activity of the account, some friends helped me open @FitForLifeTV and a GroupTweet show started. I back to training and next week I’ll continue with meetings, interviews and benefic workshop planning in order to have Fit For Life TV videos online soon.

Today Zen worked. Even though I stayed connected 3 hours when I ask God please, let my Internet work just for 10 minutes…I got the answer I was looking for. And not any answer. I GREAT Answer. I ran into you again after months of not using Facebook.

I’m sending an email with Fit For Life TV briefing. We’d love to have you as guest cocking and doing some musical kata and bunkai for the show. Ayimé! ;)
