who is to say that she doesn’t see herself as the top of the pyramid and me as her lowly servant to do her bidding when she can communicate it to me.

Ha! Being a cat, I'd bet there is a high probability of that being how she sees it, or rather feels it.

the gap between us and other animals, is it just from us down or perhaps from us up?

my cat Prissy, she will be 17 human years old in Januray, came into the computer room just talking up a storm, mews, trills and a loud meow. I reached for her and she ran off about 4 feet, turned to see if I was following. I stayed in my seat. she came up to me and repeated the talk. so I got up and followed her and turned toward the kitchen thinking she wanted something to eat. nope she wanted to play as she let loose another barage of trills and mews. I got the distinct impression she was frustrated with me not understanding her.

Then I thought of this blog and I thought from Prissy's perspective she sees this gap between her and me, this ape that can't understand her simple requests.

I know I'm putting a human perspective on my cat, but why not. who is to say that she doesn't see herself as the top of the pyramid and me as her lowly servant to do her bidding when she can communicate it to me.
