We’ve all been there. Things get dirty. That’s happened to us.
Rags
In the kitchen, we have a cloth which we clean the table and counters with. For some reason, Mama gets sparkling white cloths to use for cleaning. As you would expect, since the cloth is to pick up dirt ‘n stuff, it gets dirty. And being pearly white don’t help. Since it’s pure white, it looks even dirtier quicklier (yes, it’s a word . . . in my dictionary), and thus, Mama often cleans it. Wouldn’t it just be simpler to get a dark coloured cloth?
Well, even that may not solve the problem, as we see with . . .
Rugs
In the “playroom” we used to have a white rug. As you can see in the snapshot of Abbott Life from 2001, of Pa and I wrestling (I’m the one stuck in Pa’s signature headlocks). You may not be able to tell in that picture, but those were the years in which Luke and I were losing our cuteness and were moving into the ugly stage of our lives (sadly, we won’t be getting the cuteness back until we’re 70!). Anyway, back to the rugs.
So yes. We used to have a white rug. Well, off-white. Apparently it got dirty a lot. While I remember the rug, I don’t really remember it getting dirty all the time but I’m sure it did. So one day, when Luke and Papa (the main people who would have protested) were gone at a week-long bluegrass festival, Mama brought in a dark blue rug. The same dimensions as the old one. It was a bit of an adjustment, but didn’t look bad. Pa and Luke didn’t mind either. However, one thing that I don’t think was really considered was that a darker rug, while it does hide dark dirt, makes lighter colored tiny bits (things ranging from a tiny sliver of paper, sawdust [when I brushed off my pants a little too far from the trashbin] etc) more prominent. So, it gets cleaned (vacuumed) just as often, if not more. What can ya do? (hardwood?)
