Abbott-y Blogcast – Episode 1: Dancing

Our first-ever podcast/radio show. Completely improvised. (Except for the subject, which was our experiences in dancing.) It’s amazing how listening to something like this* makes you realize how many tangents, repeated words and unnecessary explanations one goes through without realizing it. So this blogcast is good training.

If you have any comments/opinions about this first blogcast, or suggestions for things to blogcast about, let us know!

"Try everything once, except incest and folk dancing." - Sir Thomas Beecham. You guys are too funny for words. I would have loved to see this on video, but then it wouldn't be radio, which in a way makes it better. Hoop-dee-doo is for the polka (Hoop-dee-doo, Hoop-dee-doo, I hear a polka and my troubles are through). Anarchists contra dancing sounds impossible, particularly if someone is barking out orders. More please.

Ah, you know, we actually did film it as we recorded it, because I wanted to go for a Rush Limbaugh thing. You know, where you can see him talk (granted, the only "Podcast" video I've seen of him has been clips on the Daily Show). Anyway, about 1/4 way through editing, I finally realized that there was way too many edits for it to be . . . realistic. It's easy to edit speech and make it seem flawless. Editing video of *people* doing speech is a lot harder. But if we're able to do it without stuttering or going off into too many tangents, we just might do a video again!

Yeah. With all the rules that contra dancing has, you'd think that Anarchists would be adverse to it, given that rules kinda goes against their ideology . . . right?
  • When I used to contra dance, I prided myself on my ability to dance the "man's" part when called upon to do so. And sometimes just for the pleasure of dancing with a female friend.

Highly entertaining! Hope you produce many more episodes.

    LOL! Too funny!
I received invitations to a dance for Oct. '08 & May '09. I was told I would have to dance with other girls because of a guy shortage, and I'm actually more comfortable with that. Country Line dancing is popular here and requires no partner. You guys should try it, I tried it once and it was lots of fun, but I digress ;-) One question before I go ... Trunks? or no Trunks? :-D *Smiling with straight white teeth*
  • You two are hilarious. I really want to see you demonstrate the nostril-to-nostril contra dance move with one another. -Jessica
