Kyle Makes a ‘Mac, Part One

"This is bordering on creepy" reminds me of similar comments I've heard through the years, like 'icky', 'ugly', 'stupid'. I reckon such judgments give deep insight into the character of the person judging, and little about the things (or persons) being judged.

In particular, such judgments mirror the deep seated fears, insecurities, needs, and compulsions lurking in one's emotional subconscious.

Vickie, bless her heart, carries a heavy load of fear (of nature, trees, the ocean, bare feet, stillness, 'icky things', etc.) We freaked her out. She just could not comprehend a simple closer to nature approach to life. That made for good TV drama, especially after adding enough creative editing to make the story 'interesting'.

Finally, one of the most fascinating things about this is how even when we revealed the TV editing deceptions, many people (like Starr above) preferred to believe the fictional version. Why? It really boils down to the fact that people tend to see what they want to see, not what may actually be. Why do we do that? The same reason I mentioned above: Our perceptions of the world "mirror the deep seated fears, insecurities, needs, and compulsions lurking in our emotional subconscious."

Little wonder there as much misunderstanding and conflict between people as there is. Oh well, we all try to do as best we can.

I must say that I wish sooooo much, that more Families were like the Abbott's. Your unity is truly impressive, and your lifestyle is admirable. :-) ... If there is ever an opening, or you decide to adopt, all I know is that I'm gonna be FIRST in line. :-D

I thinking living at home with your family totally beats making up a new family like group in a different house. I wonder why it's become so popular that it's actually become expected for children to want to leave home if they possibly can.

As Matthew said to John: "When's the second coming?" I personally see nothing wrong with... cooking smaller "kiddie" sized burgers, and I knew what the Big "K" meant when he said "kiddie." Who eats cats? I mean, they do keep coming back, but it's best just to ignore them. As a chef, who specializes in Chinese food, I must point out that cooking smaller sized patties is the way to go. With large patties, there is a tendency to cook things unevenly - well done, rare and raw all in the same meal. With smaller sized portions, the delicacy of the flavor is there in every bite. Just eat six burgers instead of one. What time is dinner?

Leslie, Carl...aren't you EVER going to encourage your sons to leave home? It was weird enough four years ago when your show aired, but aren't they in their 20s now? And still living at home, not wearing shoes, and (hopefully not) sleeping in the same room with you? Yes, I realize your lifestyle is 'alternative', and you seem like nice folks, otherwise. But I think poor old Vickie Lowe got it right. This is bordering on creepy.

For God's sakes, let them go!

We, my cat and I, thought Kyle was saying kitty burgers too. Prissy, my cat, wasn't amused. I explained to her that Kyle was saying kiddy, she got over it but is keeping a weary eye out for Kyle with a spatula ;)

a guy I used to work with has a son who's nickname in high school was 'big mac' . . why you may ask. because he ate 6, yes SIX, big mac's in one setting.
