But Mommy?!?

Winter Ocean

As I was walking out of the surf this morning I wondered for the umpteenth time “what is the main difference between me and other animals”? Being winter and the ocean, it was easy to picture myself as an animal in chilly discomfort. My answer today, “the main difference between us and other animals is that we complain”. Both we and animals feel the unpleasant and the painful. We think, dwell on and complain about it. This slight difference may well be the source of all those ‘emergent differences’ we can identify between us and them. So, the quickest way to return to nature is to stop complaining and get on with life. But mommy”¦

  • I think some of it is how “soft” we’ve become. here in Texas, during the summer, we whine about the heat and how aweful it would be without AC but 100 years ago there was no such thing as AC, people were used to it and knew no better, to them it was just part of summertime in Texas they accepted it and moved on.

Animals accept their surroundings because they don’t understand that AC/Heat are man made creations out of the norm of the enviroment, to them the cool/heat is just part of nature, if the AC quit they don’t know that, to them it is just part of the normal day. when it is cold, my cat, who sleeps with me, will snuggle up closer by my rib cage knowing she can get warmth off of me, when it is warm she’ll sleep down by my lower legs.

  • Hmmmm my cat sure complains when she takes a bath.
