¡Muy Bueno! [video]

We don’t typically keep soda in the house—mainly because if we did, we’d always drink it! (And that would take the specialness out of it.) However, we keep a few bottles in the cellar (along with our Tequila reserves) for special occasions.

At a recent excursion to Costco, we found they had Coca Cola. Yeah, big duh. No, this was special. What made us look twice was the glass bottles. Upon closer inspection, we saw it said “Product of Mexico” and in the ingredients, there was sugar rather than corn syrup. We decided to pick up a box to see what the difference was. Here we witness Luke taking the first sip.

  • no way, i had my first bottle of real coke with sugar, not corn syrup or whatever, in egypt recently and it was AMAZING! tasted SO much better than the stuff we have here in the good ol’ us of a.

  • Russell from New York

You don’t need more soda (with or without sugar), you need a new bottle opener. Where did you get that one, oh Chef of the Future? It looks like the “Handy Housewife Helper” that Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton tried to sell on the Honeymooners.

  • That’s crap, sugar or corn syrup, guys. Yuck, why would you want to put that down your gullet?

  • Because it’s better than throwing back Drain-o.

  • Luke thats the best kind of coke a cola there is. Because it also comes in that bottle. I really dont know why they insisted in changing from bottles to cans as it ruined the taste. I grew up drinking in “USA” ice cold bottles of coke out of a machine. Everybody had empties that they collected or as a kid I collected to earn some money. That is also part of the famous song from Lynnard Skynnard’s “Curtis Lowe”. The planet needs to get green so they should bring back recycled bottles for sodas. I grew up with my grand father selling sodas out of bottle like this from his little candy store and soda fountain store. It was a big piece of my childhood and miss it. Great stuff and the soda that way was the best. It was here in the USA first but we just lost it. Other countries are still doing the bottles but now are starting to use cans.. Such a shame.
