You tell me. Kyle recently sent the following email to the rest of the Abbott family:
We are having a blog crysis. Simply put, our “storehouse” of posts is running really low. Basically, we’ve been just feeding off the backlog without replenishing it. I am partially speaking for myself but not so much, as I am at least adding some new posts. (And good ones at that.) All that we have left are mostly Papa’s “Tao” posts.
So, all we need to do is just write 1 post a week. (Or more if you want the pleasure of the backlog.) If we all just wrote 1 post a week (4 in total), we’d have enough for the whole month.
The posts don’t have to be good. We’ve been saying, “Oh, they have to be good.” Well, we’re using that approach, and how many new posts have we written recently? Exactly.
Don’t worry about them “being good” or you’ll never start writing. Just write first and then determine if it’s good or not.
Kyle
The idea behind all this is that we need to keep a steady supply of new material on the blog. Without new content, we lose our valued return visitors. On the other side of the coin, I think that putting up mediocre posts isn’t going to help anythingâ€â€there’s no shortage of things to read on the inter-tubes, so we’ve got to keep that special “Abbott touch” to keep things interesting.
So, I have two questions for you, gentle and cherished AbbottFamilyBlog.com reader. The first is, how often do you check this blog? Once every couple days? Once a week? Less? Or via RSS?
Second, what would you rather see?
- A few good posts amid many inferior ones, or
- Fewer posts, but only the better ones.
